Mendeley: How to Share References with Your Group
This video will walk you through the steps to share your references in Mendeley with your group.
Mendeley allows you to work collaboratively and share references in groups.
Let’s walk through how to share references with your group using Mendeley.
Step 1: Open Mendeley desktop. Find the Group’s header, located in the left menu, below the ‘My Library’ header.
Step 2: Click ‘Create Group’ [located in the left navigation panel]. A group creation form will appear. You can enter your group’s name, a description, and the privacy level of the group. Once you’ve entered in the information you want to include, click ‘create group’ at the bottom of the form.
Step 3: Invite your group members using their email addresses. Your new group should now appear under the ‘groups’ heading in the left menu.
Step 4: Select the references from your library you want to share with your group
Step 5: Create folders within your group library to keep your references organized and easy to find. Highlight the group name in the left menu. Select ‘create a new folder’ from the top toolbar in Mendeley desktop. A new folder will appear under the group name, give the folder a name. To save the reference directly to a group or folder from your browser, select the ‘choose folders or groups’ button in the box. Or drag and drop the references from the ‘all documents’ folder to any group or folder after saving.
Step 6: To change your group settings, select and click on your newly created group. Click the ‘edit settings’ button beside the group name to manage the group details such as the privacy settings and members of the group.
